Legendary American track and field athlete Carl Lewis and Bulgaria’s most successful footballer Hristo Stoichkov will officially open the “Garden of the World” in the city of Pazardzhik. This event will take place on September 23 at 11:00 AM in the “Freedom” park-island. The opening will occur exactly one year after the Ballon d’Or winner and the mayor of Pazardzhik, Todor Popov, broke ground on this innovative international project. The project aims to be the largest Balkan area featuring plant species from Bulgaria, the Balkans, Europe, and the world. Stoichkov will have a special section with Bulgarian flowers arranged in the shape of the number 8, which he wore as a football player. Carl Lewis, a holder of 9 Olympic and 8 World Championship titles, will also unveil his floral section.
