The creation of a youth space in the “Garden of the World” in Pazardzhik united students, sports champions, and both national and local authorities.

Young people in Pazardzhik will have their own special space in the “Garden of the World.” This is made possible through the initiative “Bridge to Society and Institutions,” which accompanies the activities of the project by the Association “Youth Guard Units” – “Young People – The Future of Bulgaria – with Unlimited Opportunities” with contract № 25-00-20/10.07.2023. The project is implemented with the financial support of the National Youth Program (2021-2025) under the thematic area “Non-formal learning for acquiring skills and key competencies,” from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Nearly 100 boys and girls from the XVIII Student Guard Squad in Pazardzhik, the city’s sports school, the representative dance group “Chudesia,” and the Youth Policy Council launched the mission to enhance the youth space in the “Garden of the World” at Freedom Park-Island. They will continue to maintain it in the future. The event was attended by the Mayor of Pazardzhik Todor Popov, Olympic medalists Reneta Kamberova and Georgi Georgiev, former national volleyball player and current sports director of “Hebar” Todor Aleksiev, the president of VK “Hebar” Alexander Ivanov, the young judo hopeful Emil Valchev and his teammates from judo club “Kodokan”, representatives of local and state authorities, representatives of the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik, the management of “Zhilfond” – Pazardzhik, and journalists.
With good spirits and enthusiasm, the young people of Pazardzhik planted various tree species and shrubs. They were supported by the city’s mayor, sports champions, landscape architect Tatyana Boyadzhieva, and Dr. Denislava Angelova, chairperson of the “Youth Guard Squads” Association. The initiative aimed to give local institution representatives, youth, students, and volunteers the opportunity to work side by side and contribute to making their environment more beautiful and greener.
In the newly created park area for the youth of Pazardzhik, zones for relaxation and the encouragement of reading and informal learning are planned. Benches will be positioned with QR codes on the seats linking to a library app, featuring the inscription “Read in the Park!”
Before the development of the space began, the youths were divided into teams with specific tasks: a composition-design team, a landscaping team, an organization and execution team, etc. The participants in the teams were instructed in acquiring knowledge and skills for creating a conceptual project, the long-term benefits of plant species, the significant effect of trees on climate change, the benefits of trees for people, and more.
In the preparatory stage of the activity’s implementation, employees from municipal enterprises participated, preparing the site and providing the shovels, rakes, watering cans, and other tools needed for its enhancement.
The youth space is located next to the special corner dedicated to Hristo Stoichkov, who broke ground on the large-scale international project “Garden of the World” a year ago. This project aims to become the largest Balkan area featuring plant species from Bulgaria, the Balkans, Europe, and the world. The legendary athlete Carl Lewis, who will arrive in Pazardzhik in a few days for its official opening, will also have his own special zone there.
