With Resolution No. 12/01.09.1989 by the ObNS Sredets, the two schools in the city—OU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” and ESPU “Hristo Botev”—were merged to create a new school, SOU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius.”
The school is a central hub where 806 students from grades I to XII are educated, coming from the town of Sredets, the village of Dyulevo, and the village of Drachevo. Transportation and cafeteria meals are provided for commuting students. High school students have a profile in “Software and Hardware Sciences” with advanced English language studies.
Within the city, there is a Crisis Center and three Family-Type Placement Centers for children and youth, whose residents attend the school.
Students are taught in a two-shift system. Eight groups have been formed for full-day education. The forms of education include daily, independent, and individual. For individual education of some students with more serious disabilities, we collaborate with a Day Center for Children with Disabilities.
The school has 27 classrooms, 13 specialized rooms, and two gymnasiums.
The management and teaching staff participate in various projects and National programs, the most recent of which are: the National Program “Providing a Modern Educational Environment,” the Module “Student Locker Provision,” and the National Program “Information and Communication Technologies in the Preschool and School Education System,” focusing on building Wi-Fi networks.
