
The “Sergey Rumyantsev” Vocational High School of Agriculture in Lukovit is the only vocational school in the municipality of Lukovit and the only vocational agricultural high school in the Lovech region.
The high school was established on October 1, 1956, as a Machine and Tractor School. It is located in the Municipality of Lukovit. The building of the educational institution boasts unique architecture and geographical location. It was built in 1927 with donations from the grateful people of Lukovit as a high school—a monument to the heroes of the First World War. It opened on September 15, 1937. At the initiative of the local civic association “Homeland,” two memorial plaques were placed on the facade of the school building in 1995, listing the names of all 114 citizens of Lukovit who died in the wars of 1912-1919. A traditional memorial service for the fallen heroes is held annually on Annunciation Day.
The Vocational High School of Agriculture “Sergey Rumyantsev” in the town of Lukovit nurtures civically engaged and responsible individuals. The school creates conditions for the realization and development of the individual qualities and creative talents of 303 students, who are educated in both full-time and independent forms, receiving secondary education and professional qualifications in the following professions: “Agroecologist”; “Economist” with IEAA; “Economist – Informatician” with IEAA; “Apparel Designer – Technologist” and “Agricultural Machinery Technician.”
Students from the “Economist – IT Specialist” program with IIAE receive a certificate for English language proficiency according to the European Language Framework during their studies. For the professions “Economist – IT Specialist” and “Economist” with IICE, free training for acquiring a driving license for vehicles category “B” is provided after completing 12th grade. For the professions “Agroecologist” and “SST Technician,” free training is offered for acquiring a driving license for category “Tkt” after completing 11th grade, and categories “Tvk,” “Tvk – Z,” and “B” after completing 12th grade.
A significant portion of students (over 70%) who graduated from PGSS “S. Rumyantsev” continue their education at higher education institutions, further enhancing and enriching their competencies in the fields where they have acquired professional qualifications at school. A considerable number of graduates also successfully pursue new specialties in fields such as medicine, law, and education. Additionally, there are those who pursue careers as tractor drivers and mechanics in various agricultural enterprises in the region.
