3rd Primary School “Dr. Petar Beron,” Montana

Dr. Petar Beron Third Primary School – Montana was established on September 1, 1962, and is located in the central part of the town of Montana. Over the decades, the school has built its reputation, becoming a symbol of quality education in the region. Its long-standing history has shaped its deserved image as a school for ambitious students, establishing itself as a center of high culture and creativity.

The motto “SCHOOL WITH TRADITIONS, SCHOOL FOR LEADERS” is not just a slogan but a philosophy reflected in every aspect of the educational institution’s activities. This philosophy is most fully expressed in the achievements of the students and educators.

The quality of education at III Primary School “Dr. Petar Beron” is confirmed by specific results. Students achieve excellent scores on the National External Assessments at the end of the 4th and 7th grades, which attests to the high level of preparation. Additionally, they regularly win top places in national olympiads and competitions, demonstrating not only knowledge but also the skills to apply it in a competitive environment.

In recent years, the focus of the educational process has been directed towards patriotic education—not as a separate subject, but as an overarching concept that permeates all aspects of school life. The aim is to develop foundational competencies that help children build:national prideand love for traditions;historical memoryand respect for the achievements of the Bulgarian people;civic awarenessand respect for the national symbols;social skillsfor tolerance and interaction; toCultural identitythrough knowledge of local heritage.

The approach to organizing the learning space is particularly impressive. On the second floor of the main building, specialized thematic classrooms have been established, dedicated to “Bulgarian” subjects: Bulgarian language and literature; Bulgarian history; Bulgarian geography and economics; Bulgarian folk art and music.

These spaces are not just classrooms, but specially designed environments for immersing in Bulgarian culture and history. They provide a strong foundation for building cultural and national identity through a sensory and emotional experience of knowledge.

The school’s “patriotic staircase,” leading to the thematic classrooms, further emphasizes the importance of the space and creates a comprehensive concept for fostering national consciousness. Each step of this staircase symbolizes growth in pride for Bulgarian achievements and values.

A natural extension of patriotic education is the formation of the XXIII Student Guard Detachment. This initiative offers students the opportunity to practically apply patriotic values through ceremonial activities, participation in national holidays, and the development of discipline and responsibility.
