Solemn Presentation of the Flag to the 25th Student Guard Unit at the Center for Personal Development Support – Municipal Children’s Complex, town of Peshtera

Today, at the central square in the town of Peshtera, the 25th student guard unit was ceremonially established. It will operate under the Center for Personal Development Support – Municipal Children’s Complex, Peshtera.

The new flag of the student body was blessed by Father Georgi and Father Todor, who offered a prayer and blessing for honor, strength, and spiritual resilience.

The Director of the Center, Mrs. Rusa Kavroshilova, opened the ceremonial event with the words:

“Today is a day of national pride, unity, and respect for history! Today our young guards received their flag, which they will preserve with responsibility and honor! The presentation of the flag is not only a symbol of our traditions and values, memory, history, and confidence, but also a call for all of us to be worthy followers of the ideas of patriotism, responsibility, and service to society!”

After the illumination, the traditional ritual of nailing the flag took place, involving the mayor, the director of the Center, Iliya Milushev, Tania Mihaylova, Dr. Denislava Angelova, and Colonel Petar Kindalov.

The mayor of Peshtera emphasized the power of the symbol:

“The flag is not just an emblem or decoration; it is a symbol of duty, honor, and belonging to the homeland, to our hometown, and to the ideals that unite us as a nation! The example set by the young guards inspires their peers and proves that Bulgaria’s future is in safe hands!”

And Tanya Mihaylova sent her message to the young guards:

“You children are not just a squad; you will become part of the big family of the Youth Guard Squads! To be a guard means to follow the legacy of our ancestors. I wish for you to do everything with intelligence, heart, and resilience! I wish for you to have the strength and courage to stand up for your true selves!”

During the ceremony, Colonel Iliya Milushev read the official congratulatory address on behalf of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. In it, the head of state emphasized:“The latest student guard unit is yet another vivid proof of the revival of the patriotic spirit in Bulgarian society.”He turns to the children and says:“Be healthy, studious, motivated, and set an example for your peers!”

Particular attention was drawn by the presence of a delegation from Soma Municipality, Republic of Turkey. Soma’s leadership was on an official visit to Peshtera and was specially invited to participate in the ceremony, as a sign of respect and the expanding partnership between the two municipalities.

The establishment of the detachment in Peshtera officially concludes the presentation of flags to student guard units in Bulgaria for 2025.

At the end of the event, the chairman of the “Youth Guard Squads” Association, Dr. Denislava Angelova, personally congratulated each child, wishing them strength, honor, and perseverance. She also expressed her personal gratitude to the representatives of the National Guard Unit—guardsmen, orchestra, and ensemble—who supported the event with their professionalism, presence, and patriotic spirit.

“I congratulate you, young guards, on becoming part of the large family of our units! Thank you to all the participants from the National Guard Unit and Colonel Petar Kindalov for their support. Thanks also to all the volunteers of the association, who with determination and dedication helped the new units join our structure this year!”

The ceremony concluded with a performance of “My Country” and a solemn parade by the young guards. Under the applause of their parents, teachers, and guests, they took their first steps as part of the national youth guard community—a symbol of honor, discipline, and Bulgarian spirit.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, with the participation of the National Guard Unit and the support of the Ministry of Defense.
