At a formal ceremony, Svoge blessed the flag of the 10th Student Guard Unit.

On Petrovden, June 29, 2020, Svoge celebrated the anniversary of its proclamation as a town with a ceremonial event during which the flag of its first ever student guard unit was consecrated. The event was held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rumen Radev, with participation from the National Guard Unit. The special guest was the Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Defense, Mr. Krasimir Karakachanov. The 10th Student Guard Unit of Svoge consists of 31 youths from “Ivan Vazov” Secondary School and “Velizar Peev” Vocational School. The unit will be part of all patriotic events organized by the Municipality of Svoge, contributing to the education of youth in love for the Motherland. At the same time, the participants commit to setting an example for their peers through their behavior, achievements, and conduct in school.
The Deputy Mayor of Svoge, Mr. Iliya Bogdanov, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defense for their assistance in establishing the student guard unit. He stated that this is an example of constructive policy and collaboration between the state and local authorities. The Mayor, Mr. Emil Ivanov, and Deputy Mayor Mr. Bogdanov were awarded certificates and honorary signs from the Ministry of Defense. Certificates were also awarded to the school principals, Mr. Stancho Atanasov and Mr. Lyubomir Yanakiev.
The squad members shared that they participate voluntarily and with great enthusiasm. The young guards expressed that it is an honor and a great pleasure for them to wear the uniforms: “I want to serve the motherland… The feeling of being part of the squad is amazing… It is a pride to be dressed this way.”
