Youth in Pazardzhik will have their own special space in the “Garden of the World.” This will happen as part of the initiative “Bridge to Society and Institutions,” which accompanies the activities of the “Youth Guard Squads” Association project – “Young People – The Future of Bulgaria – with Unlimited Opportunities,” contract № 25-00-20/10.07.2023. This project is implemented with financial support from the National Youth Program (2021-2025), under the thematic direction “Non-formal Education for Acquiring Skills and Key Competencies,” Ministry of Youth and Sports.
On September 8 at 11:00 AM, over 70 boys and girls from the XVIII Student Guard Squad in Pazardzhik, along with the sports school and the Youth Policy Council, will kick off a mission to enhance a youth space in the “Garden of the World” in Freedom Park-Island, which they will continue to maintain in the future. The event will be attended by Todor Popov, the mayor of Pazardzhik, Olympic medalists Reneta Kamberova and Georgi Georgiev, athletes from the Hebar volleyball and football teams, and representatives of local and state authorities.
“The Youth Garden” will be located in close proximity to the special corner dedicated to Hristo Stoichkov, who a year ago broke ground on the international project “Garden of the World.” The aim is to become the largest Balkan area with plant species from Bulgaria, the Balkans, Europe, and the world. In the newly created park space for the young people of Pazardzhik, there will be designated areas for relaxation and encouragement of reading and informal learning. This will be achieved by placing benches with seats that have QR codes leading to a library app, with the inscription “Read in the Park!”
Before the construction of the space began, the youths were divided into teams with specific tasks – a composition-design team, a landscaping team, a team for organizing and executing activities, etc. Participants in the teams were instructed on acquiring knowledge and skills in developing a conceptual project, the long-term advantages of plant species, the strong impact of trees on climate change, the benefits of trees for people, and more.
In the preparatory phase of the activity, employees from municipal enterprises participated. They will prepare the site and provide the necessary shovels, rakes, watering cans, and other tools required for the work.
The initiative will enable representatives of local institutions, young people, students, and volunteers to work side by side to improve the environment in which they live.
