Sometimes adults forget the feeling that makes your skin tingle when you hear the anthem, see a guardsman, or touch something truly Bulgarian. Children are overwhelmed by the need to be global. They just need to feel history as it is. These words are from Dr. Denislava Angelova, who is the chair of the “Touch the Rainbow” Association and “Youth Guard Squads” Organization.
The idea behind forming the squads is to revive the patriotic spirit among young people and to instill and nurture patriotism in the youngest.
“Why did I choose this cause? Because it has meaning, spirit, and truth. Because the Bulgarian guardsman is a symbol of Bulgarian statehood,” shared Dr. Angelova on the program “Social Network” on NOVA NEWS.
“To become a young guard, you must have excellent academic achievements,” said the initiator of the groups. “You also need the motivation to be part of Bulgaria’s civil society and to carry Bulgaria in your heart. This is what we teach them, what they teach themselves, and what they teach us,” she added.
