Today, we had the honor of attending the extremely solemn and deeply emotional ceremony of laying soil from Bulgarian military memorials abroad at the “Memorial Sign Morena” in the “G. S. Rakovski” Military Academy.
The event was the final highlight in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and 81 years since the Drava epic—days of remembrance, gratitude, and homage to the heroism of the Bulgarian soldier.
It was a special honor for us to have Dr. Denislava Angelova, the chairperson of the “Youth Guards Association,” as well as Yoan Temelkov, who proudly represented the young generation of guardians of ancestral memory.
To the sounds of the “Attention” signal performed by the Guards Representative Brass Band, and with the participation of the National Guard Unit, urns filled with soil brought from Niš, Vukovar, Peć, and Harkány were laid. These are lands steeped in the sacrifice of Bulgarian soldiers.
That was a lesson on memory.
Lesson on Honor.
Lesson on Patriotism.
The symbolic “return” of this sacred soil to our homeland reminded us that heroes are never far from the Motherland – they live in our hearts and actions.
Dr. Denislava Angelova emphasized through her presence and commitment that the mission of the Youth Guard Units is to preserve tradition and keep it alive. With awareness, dignity, and responsibility. Yoan Temelkov was among the young individuals proving that memory has a future.
“The memorial sign Morana” has established itself today as a symbol not only of gratitude to the victorious returning Bulgarian warriors but also of the connection between generations.
