Radev presented the flag to the first student guard unit in Veliko Tarnovo.

At a ceremony at the National Military University “Vasil Levski,” President Rumen Radev presented the flag to the Ninth Etar Student Guard Unit at the Vocational High School of Tourism “Dr. Vasil Beron” in Veliko Tarnovo, announced the press office of the head of state. The flag was consecrated by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Veliko Tarnovo, Grigoriy. This patriotic initiative, under the patronage of President Radev, is led by the association “Youth Guard Units.” Veliko Tarnovo becomes the latest city to establish a student guard unit, the first of which was formed in Kardzhali in 2006. “Every era produces its heroes. This initiative emerged just when nihilism and misunderstood globalism were widespread, to remind us as a nation and to pass on to our younger generation that Bulgaria can endure if we are firmly connected to our roots,” stated President Radev. He congratulated the students of the youth guard unit, noting that from now on, they will be role models for their peers, a great honor but also a responsibility. “The flag I presented to you should be held proudly and unblemished as it carries a legacy,” he addressed the young guards. President Radev highlighted that the patriotic effort instills fundamental national values in young people and expressed support for the initiative and all institutions providing assistance. At the National Military University “Vasil Levski,” Radev was welcomed with a guard of honor. Following the ceremony, he met with the administration of the university and the “Dr. Vasil Beron” high school. Later in the day, Rumen Radev visited the exhibition “May 6 – Parade of Future Officers” dedicated to the cadets of the National Military University, featuring the photography of Vyara Yoveva.
