A ceremonial reception for representatives of the Youth Guard Units Association was held at the building of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria—an event that brought together young people from student guard formations in Pirdop, Pazardzhik, Elin Pelin, and Rudozem, as well as volunteers from across the country. The meeting became a symbol of the deepening dialogue between the younger generations of Bulgaria and China and highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the modern world.
The official host of the event wasHer Excellency Dai Qingliwhich opened the meeting by emphasizing the historical and strategic ties between the two countries. In her remarks, she stressed:
“Bulgaria is the second country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with China. We have a history of cooperation. China’s new technologies and progress are beneficial not only to China itself, but also to all international partners in trade, technology, and education.”
Her words outlined the context of the long-standing partnership, which today is developing in new directions—from the economy and innovation to cultural and educational exchange.
The Chairperson of the Youth Guard Units Association,Dr. Denislava Angelovaexpressed gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the role of young people as a key factor in the sustainable development of international relations:
“Thank you for the invitation and for your support! The young people here, as well as all the members of the association, are an example of how our two nations can achieve a better tomorrow. They are the bridge to the future, built upon the traditional patriotic values upheld by every young guardsman.”
In support of the young participants, and as an expression of institutional and public solidarity with their work, representatives of the diplomatic community and local authorities took part in the event.
Among the official guests were.Giuseppe De Francesco– Honorary Consul of the Italian Republic in Bulgaria,Angel Gerov– Mayor of the Municipality of Pirdop, as well asVesela Todorova– Director of the “Education and Culture” Directorate at Pazardzhik Municipality. Their presence, together with the leaders of the student guard units fromPirdop, Rudozem, Elin Pelin, and Pazardzhik“…added further weight to the event and underscored the importance of consistent institutional support for the development of youth organizations and civic engagement among young people.”
Following the official part, the event transitioned into an open discussion between Chinese diplomats and the Bulgarian participants. Within a “questions and answers” format, opportunities for expanding cooperation were discussed, current international initiatives were presented, as well as future projects aimed at youth exchange, education, and cultural diplomacy.
The program continued with practical workshops that gave participants the opportunity to experience Chinese culture, traditional cuisine, and centuries-old history firsthand. Through these interactive formats, the young people not only broadened their knowledge, but also formed personal impressions of one of the most dynamically developing civilizations in the world.
A special milestone in the organization’s development is the cooperation agreement signed in 2025 with Beijing Foreign Studies University. This partnership opens up new opportunities for educational exchange, joint initiatives, and the strengthening of ties between Bulgarian and Chinese youth.
The meeting at the embassy clearly outlined the direction for the future—the building of a sustainable platform for cooperation based on shared values, mutual respect, and a commitment to progress. In the context of global challenges, it is precisely young people who are emerging as key ambassadors of dialogue, capable of building on what has been achieved and creating new opportunities for partnership between Bulgaria and China.
The prospects for the “Youth Guard Units” Association include expanding its international activities, participating in joint educational programs, and implementing initiatives that promote cultural exchange and leadership among young people. In this way, the organization establishes itself not only as a guardian of traditions, but also as an active participant in building a more connected and sustainable future.
